What to look forward to
DUSP PhD student JS Tan and his co-author will discuss their new book, *Against Tech Oligarchy*, examining tech worker activism, Silicon Valley labor politics, and how workers can shape fairer uses of AI. The conversation will mark the book’s launch.
Inside the event
In a new book Against Tech Oligarchy, JS Tan — a current DUSP Phd student — writes about tech worker activism, the shifting labor politics of Silicon Valley, and the rise of today's tech oligarchs. In the AI age, as tech's most powerful leaders unilaterally force the new technology upon its workers, this book makes the case that workers — when united — can build the leverage to push back; and even fight for more equitable and socially just ways to use the technology. Join JS Tan and his co-author at this upcoming event for a conversation on these topics and to celebrate the launch of their book.
