What to look forward to
Hack for Humanity Detroit will bring builders, designers, clinicians, students, and public servants together to create solutions for local challenges in health access, the environment, civic data, and more. Hosted by Henry Ford Health’s Digital Enablement Hub as part of Hacktoberfest 2026 with MLH, the free event welcomes beginners and offers no-code building options, demos, and prizes.

Challenge
Solve one Detroit area problem: health access, environment, neighborhood services, economic mobility, or civic data.
Who
Anyone 18+. Builders, designers, clinicians, data folks, public servants, students. Solo or team. Teams can be formed on-site. First-timers welcome.
Bring
Laptop, charger, and photo ID. Refreshments provided. Registration required.
Two ways to build
- Any project: build with Lovable. No coding needed. 100 free Lovable credits each, code shared on site.
- MLH Open-Source AI Prize: open-source or open-weight AI at the core, public GitHub repo, open-source license. Winning team gets DEV badges.
MLH rules apply only to the MLH prize. Every project can demo. More prizes to be announced.
Day of
Create your MLH account before you arrive. Check in and submit on MLH OrganizerHQ. MLH Code of Conduct applies. Photos taken at event. Need an accommodation or have questions? Message the hosts here.
