Is There Really a Global AI Race?

Is there really a global AI race—and if so, who’s actually running, and toward what finish line?

Does today’s rush to develop artificial intelligence truly resemble the Cold War Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union, or does that metaphor hide more than it reveals.?

How much of the current AI dynamic is about technological research and innovation versus politics, national security, and economic power?

What are the potential positive implications of AI for health, education, creativity, and global prosperity?

Finally, we’ll consider what all of this means for ordinary citizens: How should we prepare for a world shaped by AI, what skills and policies do we need, and what role can each of us play in steering this technology toward the common good?
