What to look forward to
On Nov. 8, builders will develop AI agents that use simulation to advance energy materials, grid and fusion systems, or scientific evaluation, with teams demoing live across San Francisco and MIT. The event is backed by Sundai Club, which has shipped 130+ consecutive hackathons and 1,000+ projects, and Superradiant, a research lab focused on self-improving agents for science.
Inside the event
The first SF × MIT hack day is on energy. Sundai Club builds at MIT, we build at AGI House SF, and both rooms demo to each other over a live link at 5:30.
A battery chemistry that lasts 20% longer or a grid model that predicts a failure an hour earlier is worth real money, and a lot of it can be tested in simulation before anyone touches hardware. We want agents that do that testing and get better at it each run.
Tracks for Nov 8
- Materials for energy: search for battery, catalyst and solar materials with simulation in the loop.
- Grid and fusion: forecasting, control and plasma simulation, wherever an agent can propose something and a model can check it.
- Evals for science: graders that tell you if a simulated result holds up, so the loop can improve itself without a human in every step.
Schedule
- 10:00 doors, coffee, intro
- 10:30 team formation
- 1:00 lunch
- 6:30 demos
- 7:30 done
Spots are limited and we approve applications on a rolling basis.
Who's behind it
AGI House SF is a hacker house on St. Germain Ave where researchers and founders meet to build on the frontier. We run hackathons, salons and dinners most weeks.
Sundai.club is the largest AI hacker community born out of Harvard & MIT that shipped more than 130+ hackathons back-to-back in the last 2.5 years - one for every sunday without stopping. 1000+ projects, with many funded by VCs, YC, etc.
RSIhouse.ai - a weekly open neutral space for hacks and dinners exclusively for recursive self improvement. We touch on topics of post-training, evals, harness engineering, self-play and swarm intelligence. Every week we explore the limits of RSI.
Autolab.ai is building infrastructure for the RSI. Starting with the evals, Autolab enables fully autonomous continual learning and ownership of your own enterprise AI models that get better with every API call you make.
Superradiant is a research lab building self-improving agents who are bringing the rapid advances in mathematics to the sciences. The name comes from superradiance, the quantum effect where emitters that fall into phase radiate together and the light grows with N² instead of N. Their founders, Micah Stubbs and Alejandro Zarzuelo Urdiales, put this series together.
