A new Siri with ChatGPT is coming

The information gathered from iOS IPSW suggests that Apple is actively enhancing its artificial intelligence capabilities, particularly for iOS 17.4 and looking ahead to iOS 18. In the beta version of iOS 17.4, code was discovered by 9to5Mac indicating ongoing work on a new Siri version that utilizes large language model technology, including internal testing with OpenAI's ChatGPT API. A new SiriSummarization framework within iOS 17.4 uses this API for testing new AI features, suggesting a focus on improving Siri's ability to summarize and interact with text, including messages.

The code reveals Apple's experimentation with multiple AI models, including its own "Ajax" model and others like ChatGPT and FLAN-T5, to enhance Siri's functionalities. While Apple utilizes OpenAI's technology for testing, it primarily aims to develop its in-house AI models for these improvements.
