Alibaba Opens QwenWork Global Beta for Web and Desktop Work, but Leaves Pricing Unset

Alibaba has opened an international public beta for QwenWork, a workplace AI agent that can navigate websites, operate a local computer and complete multi-step assignments when a user authorizes it. The product turns Alibaba’s separate agent offerings into one interface, placing browser and desktop automation alongside content and website-building tools.

The beta is available through the QwenWork website and desktop client. Alibaba is initially aiming it at users and businesses in Asia, the Middle East and Latin America; English and simplified Chinese are supported at launch. The company plans to add Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and other languages.

A single interface replaces three separate services

QwenWork combines capabilities from QoderWork, MuleRun and Wukong, Alibaba’s existing AI agent services. The resulting product is not limited to answering a prompt: its stated design is to execute a chain of actions across web and desktop environments after permission is granted.

The product spans actions, memory and output creation

The scope is broader than automation alone. QwenWork can generate documents, conduct research, accept voice input, analyze files, schedule cloud-based tasks and automate browser work. It also supports authorized operations on files stored locally, extending the agent’s reach beyond browser-only workflows.

Three ways Alibaba is extending the agent

• Awareness is an opt-in feature that retains preferences, working conventions and prior context across sessions. Users can disable it, and completed workflows can be saved as reusable skills.
• The platform can create and deploy websites, including hosting, database services and custom-domain support. Alibaba says a natural-language request can produce a publicly accessible site without manual coding or server configuration.
• It can also generate images, video and audio, making creative production another stated function inside the same workplace platform.

A model-efficiency claim meets an unfinished commercial offer

QwenWork has individual and enterprise subscriptions, a credit system, and Standard and Advanced model tiers. The Standard tier uses Qwen3.8 Flash. Alibaba says that model uses 75% fewer tokens per task and responds at roughly twice the speed of the platform’s previous model; those are company performance claims rather than an independent comparison.

Alibaba first introduced QwenWork in China in early August, making this release an international beta rather than the product’s initial debut. The company has not disclosed international subscription prices or a timeline for full commercial release. Those missing terms will determine how readily organizations can evaluate the cost of putting a permissioned agent across their web and desktop work.
