Decart has two distinct AI offerings: Lucy edits live video in real time, while Oasis generates simulated environments for robotics and autonomous-driving tests. The Wall Street Journal reports Amazon is discussing a roughly $7 billion acquisition, above Decart’s nearly $4 billion May valuation and Anthropic’s earlier $6 billion pursuit, which ended after due diligence in September. The talks are unconfirmed: no agreement is reported, Reuters could not independently verify them, and negotiations could collapse or another bidder could emerge.
Decart raised $300 million in May in a round led by Radical Ventures; Nvidia joined as a new investor.
Anthropic explored a roughly $6 billion acquisition in August, then walked away in September after due diligence, Bloomberg previously reported.
The reported $7 billion is a possible transaction value, not a completed deal; Amazon and Decart did not comment to Reuters.
Amazon is negotiating a potential purchase of AI startup Decart for around $7 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported on October 11, 2026. The talks put a new prospective buyer behind a company Anthropic previously considered acquiring, with a possible transaction value above both that earlier pursuit and Decart’s reported May valuation.
The Journal cited people familiar with the matter and said a deal could happen soon, but negotiations could fall apart or another suitor could emerge. Reuters could not immediately verify the report, and Amazon and Decart did not respond to its requests for comment. No agreement or completed acquisition is confirmed.
Decart’s products include Lucy, which can edit live video in real time, according to the company’s website cited by Reuters. It has also developed Oasis, a model that generates simulated environments to train and test robotics and autonomous-driving systems. The products cover different tasks: changing live footage and creating environments for testing automated systems.
The startup was founded in 2023 by three Israeli engineers: brothers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev. Its financing history includes a $300 million round in May led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia joining as a new investor.
The Journal cited PitchBook data for Decart’s valuation in May, before the reported Amazon acquisition discussions.
The prospective Amazon price is higher than that May figure. The comparison puts the scale of the negotiations in context, although the figures represent different things: a past company valuation and the possible value of an acquisition now being discussed.
Anthropic explored a potential $6 billion acquisition of Decart in August, Bloomberg previously reported. Bloomberg reported that Anthropic decided against acquiring Decart in September after conducting due diligence—the examination of a target before a purchase. That earlier process reached the review stage before Anthropic walked away; Amazon’s interest follows a different buyer’s abandoned pursuit.
