Amber has raised seven million euros in Series A funding to move from answering questions about company information to recognizing and carrying out work across business systems. The Aachen startup is targeting small and medium-sized businesses, where useful knowledge can be scattered across email, cloud storage, network drives, ERP and CRM software, ticketing systems, and project folders. The round was led by NRW.Venture, the venture fund of NRW.BANK. Existing backer Ventech also materially increased its investment. Amber plans to use the money for autonomous software features, deeper enterprise integrations, expansion into the Benelux region, and hiring. The company was founded in 2021 and previously raised a 2.1-million-euro seed round led by Ventech in March 2025. Its current product is built around what Amber calls an AI Data Layer. That layer links and structures information from different systems before a large language model uses it. Amber says the approach preserves existing access rights, gives models more relevant context, and can improve answer precision while reducing computing overhead. It also aims to keep organizational knowledge available when employees leave and make it easier for new hires to find. The important shift is from context to action. Amber wants software to identify pending tasks and execute them across enterprise tools, rather than waiting for someone to phrase every request. But the company has not yet specified the first autonomous tasks or reported results from autonomous actions in customer deployments. The decisive test will be whether its planned integrations can turn structured context into reliable work.

Story brief

3 key points

Aachen-based Amber has raised €7 million in Series A funding led by NRW.Venture, with Ventech increasing its stake, to turn its enterprise data layer into software that can identify and execute tasks. The company’s current product connects information across documents, drives, ERP, CRM and other tools, then supplies structured context to AI systems. Its strategy now depends on deeper integrations and reliable...

Amber has raised a €7 million Series A to push its product beyond answering questions about company files and toward software designed to recognize and carry out work across business systems. The Aachen startup targets small and medium-sized businesses, where useful organizational knowledge is often spread across disconnected tools.

NRW.Venture, the venture fund of NRW.BANK, led the financing, while existing investor Ventech significantly increased its investment. Amber plans to use the capital for autonomous software features, expansion into Benelux, deeper enterprise integrations and team growth.

Context is the product’s starting point

Amber’s product centers on what it calls an AI Data Layer. The layer connects, links, structures and contextualizes data from multiple systems before a large language model is applied. Amber combines search, generative AI, assistant features and automation around fragmented enterprise information.

The design addresses a common setup in mid-sized businesses: product specifications, customer materials and project records can sit in email, network drives, cloud storage, ERP and CRM systems, ticketing tools and project folders. Amber says its preparation step gives models relevant, structured information rather than unstructured material, reducing computing overhead and improving answer precision.

From finding information to doing work

Today, Amber presents the platform as a way for employees to ask questions of internal documents and receive answers. Its planned next step is software that recognizes pending tasks and executes them across enterprise systems instead of waiting for a user to frame each request.

What Amber says the data layer can support

  • Employees can query internal documents rather than navigate separate repositories; Amber says existing access rights are respected.
  • Knowledge held by individual employees can remain available after they leave, and new hires can retrieve organizational context more directly.
  • Models can receive selected company context before producing an answer or supporting a workflow.

The commercial test is integration

Deeper integrations will determine whether Amber’s context layer can become an action layer. The company has not identified the first systems or tasks for its autonomous features, and it has not disclosed results for autonomous actions in customer deployments.

Amber says its customers span manufacturing, engineering, IT consulting and consumer goods, naming Scheidt & Bachmann, Ritter Sport, Zentis, Schüßler-Plan, Dalli and Hailo. Founded in 2021 by Philipp Reißel, Bastian Maiworm and Igli Manaj, it previously raised a pre-seed round and a €2.1 million Ventech-led seed round in March 2025. Amber did not disclose its valuation, revenue or individual investor stakes for this Series A.
