Talent work is being attached to national systems

Secihti places the pact alongside the Coatlicue supercomputer and the National High-Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence Cluster. The ministry says those initiatives seek to strengthen Mexico’s scientific and technological sovereignty, accelerate research and broaden nationwide access to advanced AI and supercomputing capabilities.

That linkage gives the agreement two different horizons. The MOU’s concrete near-term activities are institutional: training people, convening technical work and sharing practices. AMD frames its role around the scientific uses of high-performance computing, citing energy, biology, climate and materials science as fields where such systems can help researchers address complex problems and speed discovery. The company says the memorandum reflects a shared commitment to building Mexico’s computing capabilities. Whether that stated commitment becomes defined projects connected to Coatlicue or the national cluster is now the practical question for the partners.
