Existing installations will carry over. But Team and Enterprise administrators who have disabled Skills face a November 30 decision to keep desktop plugins working.
Listen to this story
Anthropic is replacing Claude’s separate Skills, Connectors and Plugins management tabs with a unified Plugins page, with a phased rollout beginning October 29, 2026. Existing installations remain available, but the unified interface does not merge administration: connectors still need to be disconnected separately, and organization controls largely remain distinct. The consequential change is for Team and Enterprise customers on November 30, when disabling Skills will also block plugins in Claude Desktop; administrators must enable Skills to preserve desktop access. HIPAA-configured organizations still must keep protected health information out of these features.
The rollout starts October 29 for Free, Pro, Max and Team, reaches general availability for those plans on November 9, and becomes the Enterprise default on November 30.
Removing a plugin that bundles a connector and skills will not disconnect the connector; users must remove that connection separately.
Administrators need Cloud code execution and file creation enabled, as well as Skills; the Skills setting will be renamed Plugins on November 30.
Claude users will soon manage skills, connectors and plugins from the same page rather than three separate tabs. Anthropic’s scheduled change starts rolling out on October 29, 2026. Existing installations will carry over, but the transition also changes a desktop permission rule that some Team and Enterprise administrators will need to address.
The most visible change is a new name: Customize becomes Plugins in Claude’s sidebar, chat menu and settings. A single Plugins page replaces the separate Skills, Connectors and Plugins tabs. Anthropic’s help guide describes it as one place to find, add and manage all three.
The page puts Your plugins above the plugins available to browse. That section includes plugins from a user’s organization and those shared with them. Quick filters narrow the list to skills or connectors, while individual cards identify their type. Plugins and connectors also open in the same detail-page layout.
Public directory entries will carry Verified or Community labels. Skills will work as plugins: users can invoke one with the “+” button or by typing “/” in chat, and sharing remains available.
Most users do not need to take action. Their existing connectors, skills and plugins stay installed and usable after the change. To find those items in the new interface, Anthropic directs users to Plugins in the sidebar, then Your plugins and Show all. Filters can isolate plugins that contain only skills or connectors.
Removing a plugin that bundles skills and a connector will not disconnect the connector. Users must disconnect it separately.
Most organizational controls remain intact. Organization settings will group Plugins & skills and Connectors under Plugins, but retain separate pages for plugins, connectors, policy, marketplaces and requests. Plugin and connector controls will remain mostly separate, even as users get a combined management page.
The exception starts November 30: Team and Enterprise organizations with Skills disabled will also have plugins blocked in Claude Desktop. Anthropic says this brings desktop behavior into line with Claude web and Claude Code. Administrators who already allow Skills do not need to change anything.
Enabling those features does not extend health-data coverage. Anthropic warns that organizations using its HIPAA configuration have business associate agreements that do not cover connectors, plugins or skills—even after an owner enables them. Its instruction is to keep protected health information out of all three.
