Anthropic has replaced the Max 20x name with Ultra and is moving current subscribers over automatically, with no change to the plan’s $200 monthly web price. Ultra’s stated allowance is 10 times Pro’s weekly usage—not unlimited access—and verified accounts avoid a five-hour cap while remaining subject to weekly limits and possible capacity restrictions. The change makes the plan’s usage terms more explicit; subscribers should check their verification status and note that mobile pricing and billing adjustments can differ by platform.
Ultra is for individual consumers, not Anthropic’s Team or Enterprise plans.
Unverified accounts face a temporary limit that Anthropic removes automatically; phone verification at checkout does not remove it.
Ultra includes Claude Code, monthly Claude API credits, priority access, and support for longer assignments that run in the background.
Anthropic has renamed its Max 20x subscription Ultra, moving existing subscribers to the renamed Claude plan automatically without changing their price. The plan costs $200 a month on the web. Its Help Center describes a weekly allowance of 10 times Pro’s usage, with no five-hour limit for verified accounts.
Existing Max 20x subscribers do not need to sign up for a replacement subscription: the move to Ultra is automatic. Anthropic describes Ultra as a paid plan for individual consumers, rather than its Team or Enterprise offering for organizations. The listed $200 price applies specifically to web subscriptions; mobile prices may differ depending on the app platform.
Ultra’s current allowance is expressed as a weekly comparison with Pro, rather than the multiplier in the former plan’s name. Anthropic says Ultra includes 10 times Pro’s usage each week. That allowance still has boundaries: one weekly limit applies across all models, and Fable has a separate weekly limit.
Anthropic also reserves the ability to impose additional restrictions to manage capacity and access. Those can include weekly or monthly caps and limits on particular models or features. The company does not guarantee uninterrupted service. Subscribers who have a limit reset can use it to restore their weekly usage limits to full.
Anthropic automatically verifies Ultra accounts using factors such as account and payment history to help prevent fraud and abuse. Accounts that are not yet verified face a temporary limit. The company removes that limit automatically once verification is complete, so subscribers do not need to take an additional verification step themselves.
Ultra includes Claude Code for coding work in a terminal and monthly credits for the Claude API, which developers use to access Claude from software. Anthropic also lists priority access to new models, features and products. The plan supports longer, multi-step assignments, including reports, spreadsheets and presentations, that continue running in the background.
Ultra is available only as a monthly subscription. For people moving from an annual Pro subscription, the billing terms allow an account credit when the remaining Pro balance exceeds the Ultra plan price. That credit goes toward future subscription costs, rather than being described as a cash refund.
Receiving that credit requires the Ultra purchase to use the same billing address as the previous subscription. If the address has changed, Anthropic instructs subscribers to cancel Pro and wait until its subscription period ends before signing up for Ultra with the new address.
Google Play upgrades work differently. Subscribers pay the full price of the new plan when upgrading. The unused value of the previous plan becomes extra days on the new subscription, pushing the renewal date a few days beyond a full month instead of applying that value as a future billing credit.
