Arm Introduces Mali G2-Ultra NX, Its First AI-Native Mobile GPU

Arm has introduced the Mali G2-Ultra NX, which it calls its first AI-native Mali GPU. It places dedicated neural acceleration directly in the mobile graphics pipeline, aiming to improve image quality and frame rates without overwhelming a device’s power, heat, and memory limits.
The GPU combines neural accelerators, a new execution engine, and third-generation hardware ray tracing. Arm says the neural hardware is integrated alongside shader cores, which do much of a GPU’s graphics work, and shares its memory system, caches, and control structures. That design is intended to reduce data movement when neural and conventional graphics workloads run together.
Rendering less, reconstructing more
Arm is building the launch around three neural graphics techniques. Neural Super Sampling reconstructs a higher-resolution image from a lower-resolution render. Neural Frame Rate Upscaling generates intermediate frames from motion, depth, and rendered-frame data. Neural Super Sampling and Denoising pairs upscaling with denoising for demanding ray-traced scenes.
Arm says benchmark performance is up to 24% higher than the previous generation.

An early case from Neural Dawn
Arm and Sumo Digital used Neural Dawn to demonstrate frame-rate upscaling and neural super sampling with denoising in a game-production pipeline. Arm says the demonstration achieved up to 4x higher performance efficiency and up to 70% lower external-memory traffic than native rendering. It also says the new ray-tracing hardware cuts DRAM traffic by up to 13% on leading ray-tracing benchmarks.
Combined with Neural Frame Rate Upscaling, Arm says the GPU can support gaming sessions at up to 120 frames per second. That capability claim depends on the neural technique rather than describing conventional game performance alone.
Tools are part of the pitch
Arm is pairing the hardware with its Neural Graphics Development Kit, which includes the sampling and frame-upscaling technologies, Vulkan machine-learning extensions, Unreal Engine plug-ins, and profiling and optimization tools. The stated goal is to let studios bring neural graphics into established engines, graphics interfaces, and custom workflows rather than build separate research infrastructure.
The G2-Ultra NX is also part of CSS for Mobile 2, which combines the GPU with Arm’s C2 CPU cluster, system-level software, and implementation technologies. Arm positions that platform for agentic AI and cinematic mobile graphics; the next practical test for neural graphics is how widely developers use these tools in finished games.
