Medical-scan findings can now feed into a combined service designed to coordinate follow-up care, Azra AI says. On October 20, 2026, the company announced it had completed its acquisition of Blackford Analysis from Sopris Capital. The deal completes a combination Sopris outlined earlier this month, joining imaging-AI software with Azra’s patient-management platform.
Azra describes the problem as a handoff failure: a suspicious nodule, mass or cardiac finding reaches the electronic health record, but responsibility for the next step is unclear. Care navigators can end up tracking patients manually in spreadsheets and notes.
From an image finding to a care team
Blackford supplies the imaging layer. Its platform lets healthcare organizations evaluate, deploy and manage AI applications within existing imaging workflows. Sopris says it offers more than 130 applications from over 45 partner vendors. Its vendor-neutral design lets customers use applications from multiple suppliers through one platform.
In Azra’s description, Blackford applies imaging AI to a case and a report is generated. Azra combines that report with electronic health record data, including genomic testing, laboratory results, medical history and appointments. The software then identifies patients needing care and routes them to the appropriate team.
The company says health systems can access the offering through one contract and a single IT connection, using their own care-navigation teams or Azra’s.
The care work Azra says it supports
- Screening and incidental findings, alongside oncology and other complex care navigation.
- Multidisciplinary meetings and patient tracking through treatment.
- Cancer registry automation and matching patients with clinical trials.
Azra presents completed care as the endpoint, not merely a documented finding. Its announcement does not provide clinical outcome results showing that the combined platform reduces missed follow-up or shortens time to treatment.
Our partners and customers keep the vendor-neutral platform they rely on today, and they gain a direct path from AI-detected findings to coordinated patient care.

A planned combination under the same owner
Sopris is Azra’s parent company and majority owner. On October 9, it announced its completed purchase of Blackford from Bayer and said the Azra combination would follow within days or weeks. Azra dates the earlier purchase to October 2. Financial terms of Azra’s acquisition were not disclosed.
John Marshall will lead the combined companies. Azra says Blackford will continue serving existing equipment-manufacturer partners and health-system customers without disrupting deployments. Azra, which reports deployments at more than 1,500 sites, says all its customers will now have the Blackford platform available to them.
