Story brief
3 key pointsDextr AI’s $6.7 million seed round will fund a hotel-operations platform that links reservation and guest-service agents with other property workflows. Its new Doss Gen 1 interface lets staff direct agents by text or voice, with role-based permissions and an action record. The strategy depends on custom, on-site implementation and connections to hotel systems, so expansion will require more than deploying software....

Dextr AI is betting that hotel agents will be more valuable when a booking call can lead to action elsewhere on the property. The startup has emerged from stealth with $6.7 million in seed funding and a new way for employees to direct those agents. Its financial case so far relies on company-supplied customer examples.
From guest questions to booking calls
Sajid Shariff and Scott Arnold founded Dextr in July 2025. Its early agent, Alfred, answered guest questions and helped with check-ins and check-outs. Shariff told Crunchbase News that online reviews improved at two early properties within 90 days.
Dextr then turned to phone reservations. Its voice agent, Daisy, can answer callers’ questions and make or change bookings. Shariff says one large hotel now handles $100,000 to $300,000 a month in bookings through Daisy. That is booking volume routed through the agent, not a figure for additional revenue the hotel would otherwise have missed.
The next step is a handoff
Dextr wants its specialized agents to share information across hotel tasks. Shariff offered one possible handoff: if a guest declines housekeeping, a guest-management agent could notify an operations agent so staff schedules can change. The example describes an intended workflow, not a measured saving.
A late arrival is another proposed use. At a property without overnight desk staff, Daisy could verify a caller’s reservation and give room-entry instructions while Alfred handles the guest-management side. For some properties, that could remove the need for an overnight front desk shift.
A command layer and an on-site setup
Alongside the financing, Dextr is introducing Doss Gen 1, which lets employees direct agents by text or voice. The company says it includes role-based permissions and a record of actions taken. Those controls distinguish what employees can direct when agents work across reservations, guest service and staffing.
Putting the agents to work takes installation work. Shariff says Dextr sends engineers to customers to find suitable tasks and connect agents to existing systems, since operations differ by property. Its integrations include OPERA Cloud, StayNtouch, Cloudbeds and Hostaway.
Funding the rollout
Elevation Capital led Dextr’s first institutional round, with Foundation Capital participating. Dextr says its customers include independent hotels and franchised properties operating under the Hilton, Wyndham, Best Western and IHG brands. Shariff says it works with those properties’ owners and operators, not directly with the brands. Customers pay a subscription based on the property and agents used, plus usage fees for some agents.
Dextr’s release cites a reservation center that generated $80,000 in incremental revenue within 60 days, calling it a 49-fold return on investment. It also cites a six-property group that cut 1,200 labor hours. Both are company-supplied cases rather than results across its customer base. Shariff declined to disclose Dextr’s revenue, profitability or valuation.
Dextr plans to hire more customer-facing engineers, add software integrations and develop further agents. The next test is whether that hands-on approach can produce similar returns at more properties.
