Weil is an early adopter collaborating with Google Cloud while retaining a multi-model strategy across proprietary and partner tools.
Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise for Legal is moving toward the evidence at the center of litigation work. Everlaw has connected the product to its litigation and investigations platform through an MCP integration, while Weil, Gotshal & Manges is deploying Gemini Enterprise for Legal as one of its early law-firm adopters. The announcements draw a useful line between AI that works on permissioned case files and AI that derives litigation intelligence from public judicial records.
A model can retrieve the case record without replacing it
The Everlaw connector gives Gemini Enterprise for Legal access to search plus document and metadata retrieval in Everlaw. Everlaw says that access is evaluated in real time against each user’s existing permissions, whether a lawyer asks a discrete question or has Gemini plan multi-step case research.
That architecture keeps Everlaw as the system of record for the underlying evidence, permissions and audit trail. Gemini Enterprise is intended to provide synthesis and insight on top of that record, including document analysis, early case insights and planning for new matters.
Weil is pairing an outside platform with an in-house one
Weil said it will collaborate with Google Cloud on the evolution of Gemini Enterprise for Legal, describing itself as one of the first law firms to adopt the platform. Its approach is explicitly multi-model: technology partnerships sit alongside proprietary applications and work with clients to develop and refine AI-enabled legal services.
The firm also launched BenchMark, a proprietary AI-powered litigation-intelligence platform developed by Weil lawyers and its in-house AI group, LASER. The tool focuses on a different evidence base from Everlaw’s connector: it synthesizes a judge’s public record, rather than a firm’s governed matter materials, to inform strategy over the life of a case.
Availability remains the immediate constraint
Everlaw is available in Gemini Enterprise in private beta today and is planned for broader availability to joint Everlaw and Gemini Enterprise customers. That limits the near-term significance of the evidence connector: its described workflow is not yet a generally available option for every customer using both products.
For legal teams, the distinction is practical. Everlaw’s offer is centered on bringing a general AI interface to controlled case evidence without changing the custody and permissions layer; Weil’s BenchMark shows how a firm can build specialized intelligence on a public corpus while adding a third-party AI platform to its wider toolkit. Whether the private beta delivers the intended speed and confidence gains will depend on its eventual rollout to joint customers.
