Five9 agrees to buy Level AI for $325 million, keeping a standalone sales route
The pending acquisition would bring customer-service AI into Five9’s platform without requiring other buyers to migrate their contact centers. Closing is expected in Q4 2026.
The proposed deal would turn a partnership dating to 2022 into ownership while keeping Level AI available to contact centers that do not run Five9, giving the buyer a way to sell AI without requiring a platform migration. Level AI’s products would join Five9’s Genius CX application layer and become available to its base of more than 4,000 customers. The acquisition remains subject to closing conditions, with completion targeted for Q4 2026; Level AI’s performance figures for its Latitude models are company claims, not independently verified.

Five9 has agreed to acquire Level AI for approximately $325 million in cash, pairing ownership with a plan to keep selling the startup’s applications beyond its own platform. Announced November 5, 2026, the deal would give Five9 more customer-service AI tools while preserving a buying route for enterprises using other contact-center systems.
The acquisition is not complete. Five9 expects to close it in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Its board unanimously approved the agreement, and the company plans to fund the purchase from its balance sheet.
AI without a platform migration
Five9’s plan distinguishes buying AI applications from replacing the system that runs a contact center. Level AI’s tools would join the AI application layer of Five9’s Genius CX Platform. They would also remain available as standalone products for businesses using another cloud provider or running contact centers on their own premises.
Chief Executive Amit Mathradas described that standalone route as an option for enterprises that want AI before they are ready to move their contact centers to the cloud. That gives the proposed acquisition a sales path beyond customers already committed to Five9’s core platform.
The companies already have a technical and commercial relationship. They have partnered since 2022, with Level AI applications integrated into Five9 and offered through its CX Marketplace. Five9 says ownership would make those applications available to its base of more than 4,000 customers, adding distribution to an established integration.
Automation alongside human assistance
Level AI’s suite spans both direct customer interactions and the work around them. Its applications share a conversation-intelligence layer: software that analyzes customer exchanges. The portfolio includes quality management, coaching and Voice of the Customer tools, alongside three distinct roles for AI:
AI agents handle customer inquiries directly across voice and digital channels.
Agent Assist guides human staff during live conversations.
AI Workers perform research and analysis previously handled manually by coaches and analysts.
Five9 expects the combination to automate more interactions, improve human-agent performance and turn customer conversations into insights for other parts of a business. Mathradas also framed the purchase as a way to add experienced AI builders and tools that let human agents concentrate on complex, higher-value interactions.
The underlying technology is Latitude, Level AI’s proprietary model family built for customer conversations. Level AI says its platform handles more than one billion customer interactions annually. It also claims Latitude delivers up to 49 times lower cost and four times lower latency—the delay before a response—than frontier models. Those are company-reported comparisons, not independently verified results.
The agreement is signed; operations stay separate
The merger terms cover Level AI’s outstanding shares, options and warrants, with customary adjustments for cash, debt, transaction expenses and working capital at closing. Level AI would become a wholly owned Five9 subsidiary. Stockholders with sufficient voting power to approve the deal have signed support agreements.
The agreement permits termination if closing has not occurred by February 5, 2027, among other specified circumstances. Neither party is required to pay a termination fee. Until closing, the companies will operate separately. Level AI says customer contracts, invoices and support contacts face no immediate changes, and it promises advance notice of any change.
