Flai Raises $27 Million to Move Dealership AI Beyond Answering Calls
The startup says it schedules more than 50,000 appointments monthly. Its new customer-management software aims to turn those conversations into follow-up, system updates and staff handoffs.
Flai plans to use its $27 million Series A to expand from dealership call handling into AI agents that execute sales and service workflows through its new Service and Sales CRM. The company says it schedules more than 50,000 appointments monthly and works with hundreds of dealerships, including over one-fifth of the country’s top 50 dealer groups. CEO Ari Polakof reported 20-fold revenue growth over the past year, but disclosed no revenue total; Flai says employees take over when a case needs human judgment.

Base10 Partners led the round; Toyota Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, The Friedkin Group and Findlay Automotive Group also participated.

The CRM can follow up on recalls and declined services, recover missed appointments and update dealership systems, with escalations for cases needing human judgment.

Flai says dealerships can go live 10 days after signing; Polakof also set a company expectation of responding to customers within 20 minutes.
Flai wants its AI to do more than answer a dealership’s phone: it wants to handle the work that follows. On October 6, 2026, the startup announced a $27 million Series A led by Base10 Partners. Its funding announcement pairs that ambition with a concrete usage claim: more than 50,000 sales and service appointments scheduled each month.
Toyota Ventures, First Round Capital and Y Combinator participated, alongside The Friedkin Group and Findlay Automotive Group. The financing brings automotive investors into the same round as venture firms, backing software designed specifically around dealership sales and service operations.
Flai says it now works with hundreds of dealerships, including more than 20% of the country’s top 50 dealer groups. CEO Ari Polakof told TechCrunch that revenue increased 20-fold over the past year. That is a growth rate, not a disclosed revenue total; the appointment count measures bookings, not completed visits or vehicle sales.
The work after a customer calls
Alongside the financing, Flai introduced its Service and Sales CRM—customer relationship management software built around AI agents that carry out tasks. The company describes a system that identifies missed opportunities and operational problems, then contacts customers, handles conversations, schedules appointments and can update dealership systems.
The distinction Flai draws is between software that tells employees what to do and software that moves the task forward itself. Its examples include recovering missed appointments, following up on recalls or declined services, and keeping records current. Those activities extend the job beyond responding to the customer who is already on the line.
Not every case is meant to stay automated. Flai says the system brings in the appropriate employee when human judgment is needed, supplying context and a recommended next step. Polakof described alerts for dealership leaders when a customer is upset, a response has been missed, or someone has promised a later action.
Deployment is part of the pitch
Polakof’s argument for specialization also rests on implementation and support. He said Flai can be live at a dealership 10 days after a contract is signed. The team now numbers around 40 people, and he tells employees to respond to customers within 20 minutes at most. These are company-described deployment capabilities and support expectations.
He also attributed much of Flai’s customer growth to dealers recommending the software to peers. The new capital is intended to deepen the product’s role inside those businesses. Flai identified three spending priorities:
Invest in product and engineering.
Deepen integrations with dealership systems.
Expand the workflows the software can take responsibility for.
