Google has made Meridian GeoX available worldwide as an open-source library for running geographic experiments across advertising platforms. The idea is straightforward: compare test and control regions to estimate whether marketing caused an outcome, rather than simply correlating ads with reported conversions. GeoX is part of a broader measurement update. Google is connecting Data Manager more directly with Google Analytics and Display & Video 360, so advertisers can manage and activate first-party customer data across those products. Its universal Data Manager API follows the IAB Tech Lab’s Event and Conversions API standard, and built-in diagnostics are designed to catch data problems earlier. Google also reports an average 26 percent increase in incremental return on ad spend when advertisers connect offline and app data to Data Manager. Enhanced conversions, it says, produce 11 percent more Search conversions than standard imports. Those are company-reported averages, not guarantees for a particular account. On the modeling side, Meridian now includes agentic tools that audit data quality, resolve errors, and guide model construction in real time. It can also incorporate brand signals such as Branded Google Query Volume, while GeoX incrementality results can feed back into Meridian’s marketing-mix models. That creates a more connected path from customer data to causal testing. But cleaner pipelines and AI assistance still do not prove that a campaign created demand. The key question is whether advertisers can turn these linked tools—and their GeoX experiments—into evidence strong enough to change spending decisions.

Story brief

3 key points

Google is connecting first-party data activation, diagnostics, causal geo-testing, and marketing-mix modeling into a more unified measurement workflow. Data Manager now links with Google Analytics and Display & Video 360, while Meridian adds agentic support for data audits, error resolution, model construction, and brand-signal inputs such as Branded Google Query Volume. Google reports 26% higher incremental ROAS with connected offline and app data, and 11% more Search conversions with enhanced conversions.

Google has made Meridian GeoX generally available worldwide, giving advertisers access to its open-source library for causal geo-experiments across advertising platforms. The release is part of a wider measurement update that also connects first-party data tools more directly to Google’s ad and analytics products, adds automated diagnostics, and brings agentic assistance to marketing-mix modeling.

The practical aim is to move advertising measurement beyond counting reported conversions. Geo-experiments compare outcomes across geographic test and control groups to estimate whether marketing activity caused an effect. Google says marketers can run independent experiments with GeoX or feed incrementality results into Meridian, its open-source marketing-mix model, to improve the model’s accuracy.

One data layer across more Google products

At the input stage, Google is integrating Data Manager into Google Analytics and Display & Video 360. The company says the change is meant to let advertisers manage and activate their own customer data across those tools rather than treating each platform as a separate data destination.

The Data Manager API is now universally available and uses the IAB Tech Lab’s Event and Conversions API standard. Google says it provides a single setup for connecting, managing and activating audiences and measurement across major ad platforms. Built-in diagnostics are also intended to identify and address data problems before they affect campaign performance.

What the new measurement stack adds

  • A Data Strength Uplift metric in Google Ads that calculates conversions recovered through an advertiser’s first-party data setup.
  • A universal Data Manager API and diagnostics for moving customer data and catching data issues.
  • Agentic Meridian features for auditing data quality, resolving errors and guiding model building in real time.
  • Brand signals, including Branded Google Query Volume, inside Meridian models.
Google’s reported advertiser averages
26% increaseOffline and app data connected to Data Manager

Google says advertisers connecting offline and app data to Data Manager see an average 26% increase in incremental return on ad spend.

11% increaseEnhanced conversions versus standard imports

Google says advertisers using enhanced conversions see an average 11% increase in Search conversions compared with standard conversion imports.

From correlation to a testable outcome

Meridian is where Google is concentrating the more ambitious part of the release. Marketing-mix models use statistical analysis to estimate how different marketing activities contribute to results. Google has added agentic capabilities that can audit data quality, resolve errors and guide the construction of those models as work happens.

It can now also take account of brand signals such as Branded Google Query Volume. Google positions that addition as a way to measure the longer-term effects of brand building, including how upper-funnel video and television campaigns may lead to later sales. The new GeoX availability provides a separate causal-testing route that can be incorporated into the model.

The promise depends on the inputs

The package puts data collection, diagnostic checks, modeling and causal experiments in a more connected workflow. That may reduce the operational distance between an advertiser’s customer data and its measurement decisions. But Google’s performance figures are company-reported averages, and the release does not turn a cleaner data pipeline or an AI-guided model into proof that a specific campaign created additional demand.

That is why GeoX is consequential within the announcement. It gives advertisers a way to test marketing effects in real-world geographic experiments, while Meridian can use those incrementality results as an input. The unresolved question is how readily organizations can turn these linked tools into measurement they trust enough to change spending decisions.
