Google Releases Six Creator-Built Flow Tools for Sound, Design and Video

A sound designer can generate separate audio tracks; a filmmaker can turn a script into motion graphics. Google released six creator-built tools for Flow on September 23, each aimed at a specific production task. Users can also duplicate and remix the tools instead of starting from scratch.

Six tools for specific jobs

Google developed the release with creatives in architecture, sound design and digital content. Some tools prepare material for further editing; others combine several steps into one workflow. The difference matters when choosing a starting point: an audio editor needs something different from someone making a thumbnail.

• Mondo Sónico generates ambience, foley and contextual sound effects on synchronized, editable tracks. Users can export the tracks separately for post-production.
• CaptionCast transcribes, styles and animates multilingual captions in a single workflow, aimed at reducing manual subtitling.
• ThumbnailForge makes social thumbnails from an image, a headline and a prompt, addressing the work of formatting cover art for different platforms.
• Surface generates architectural textures and maps them onto 3D walls, ceilings and floors in real time, according to Google. It is designed for exploring materials early in a project.
• CollageMotion Pro turns text prompts into animated collages for mixed-media work.
• SwissFlow Studio converts scripts into Swiss-style motion graphics instead of requiring creators to set movement frame by frame.

The tools came from four creator teams. Creative director Ricardo Villavicencio and sound designer Sebastián Carvallo made Mondo Sónico. Digital storyteller Jay Pirabakaran made both CaptionCast and ThumbnailForge; interior designer Vojtek Morsztyn built Surface. Filmmaker Hashem Al-Ghaili made the two motion-graphics tools, CollageMotion Pro and SwissFlow Studio.

Where the creator takes over

That choice changes what a creator has to do first. Someone who needs captions can begin with Pirabakaran’s workflow and adjust it; someone with a different production task can describe the steps they want and make a new tool. Flow’s pitch is not that every creator follows the same process, but that the process itself can be shaped around the job.

The release shows what those workflows are designed to produce, not how much time they save against manual work. For a creator, the useful test is whether a ready-made tool removes tedious steps without getting in the way of the edits needed to finish the project.
