Hisense Plans Alexa+ Control for Select Air Conditioners in Coming Months

Hisense plans to let Alexa+ customers control select air conditioners through natural-language requests in the coming months, giving Amazon’s AI assistant a route from a spoken comfort request to a device action.

The news comes from Hisense’s September 5 IFA press release. Hisense says it is working with Amazon to connect smart-home devices to Alexa+ through Amazon’s Smart Home AI Toolkit. The company describes the practical interaction simply: a customer states what they need, Alexa+ interprets that request, finds the relevant settings and carries out the action.

From a request to an appliance action

That sequence is the useful distinction in Hisense’s announcement. The assistant is not described merely as accepting a fixed command; Hisense says Alexa+ will map a user’s request to the air conditioner’s controls and complete the resulting task. The integration is built on Hisense’s ConnectLife platform, which the company uses as the connected layer across its appliance suite.

A wider home demonstration, not a wider Alexa+ launch

At IFA 2026, Hisense is also showing its AI Companion Suite across kitchens, laundry rooms, living spaces and household energy management. Those demonstrations describe a connected set of appliances rather than an announced Alexa+ rollout for every category. Hisense says the refrigerator can recognize stored ingredients and suggest meals based on preferences; a selected recipe can then connect to an oven for automatic-cooking support. Its dishwasher is described as recognizing dish conditions and adjusting cleaning.

The company presents the same pattern in other rooms: laundry products recognize clothing characteristics to choose wash and dry cycles; the air conditioner senses indoor conditions and user presence to adapt airflow; and its energy system considers weather and time-of-use electricity pricing when optimizing household energy use. Hisense groups these functions under V AIOS, which it says lets devices sense conditions, determine actions, communicate with people and other devices, and execute tasks.

The compatibility test remains

The immediate question for buyers is compatibility, not the breadth of the IFA display. Hisense has defined the planned Alexa+ feature around select air conditioners, leaving the first real test whether a customer’s specific unit is included. The announcement establishes the intended control path, but not a universal Alexa+ layer across the company’s refrigerators, ovens, laundry products or energy system.
