Nvidia’s European push spans infrastructure financing as well as a call for the region to build its own end-to-end AI stack. CEO Jensen Huang said the company had invested $8 billion across Europe in the past year and has “another couple of billion” in the pipeline, without specifying recipients or timing for that prospective capital. He cited UK data-center and AI cloud provider Nscale and Dutch cloud provider Nebius as examples, not an exhaustive list. The figures indicate a substantial Nvidia-backed ecosystem effort, but not how much is allocated to any one firm.
Huang spoke at an event in Stockholm late October 15; Nvidia was due to host a conference in Berlin the following week.
Huang’s proposed “entire stack” runs from data centers to chatbots and other applications.
Nscale and Nebius are infrastructure providers, not examples from the application end of the stack.
Nvidia has invested $8 billion in Europe over the past year and has another couple of billion dollars in its pipeline, chief executive Jensen Huang told AFP. The disclosure, published October 16, puts a financial figure behind his appeal for a European AI ecosystem. The additional investment remains prospective, separate from the total Huang said Nvidia had already invested.
Huang spoke at an event in Stockholm late on October 15, during a European tour that also includes a Nvidia-hosted conference in Berlin the following week. His starting point was a prediction about AI’s reach across business: “Every single company will be an AI company eventually. Every single industry will be impacted by AI.” That was his expectation for the technology’s eventual reach, not a description of adoption already achieved.
His recommendation for Europe covered the full technology chain. He urged the region to build the “entire stack,” meaning everything from data centers to chatbots and other applications. The term joins two parts of the industry: the underlying facilities that supply computing capacity and the software people use. Huang then discussed Nvidia’s role in financing European companies when he spoke to AFP.
We've strategically invested in different parts of that ecosystem, really high quality companies that we believe could help lift it, the whole ecosystem in Europe
Jensen Huang, speaking to AFP
Huang named Nscale, the British data-center and AI cloud provider, and Nebius, the Dutch cloud provider, as examples of companies Nvidia had invested in. Both sit on the infrastructure side of the chain he described, rather than the chatbot and application end. He offered them as examples within Nvidia’s European investment activity, not as a complete list of the companies receiving the money or a breakdown of the total.
Huang’s stated aim was to support businesses he believes can strengthen Europe’s wider AI industry. “We're helping Europe create the AI ecosystem,” he told AFP.
