Muse could soon take a task from a spoken request on smart glasses to work inside a desktop app—or help complete a purchase. At Meta Connect on Wednesday, Meta laid out those additions to its recently launched AI agent, alongside new shopping connections and a live video avatar. The announcements describe a wider role for Muse, not a single release arriving all at once.
An agent that follows the task
Muse launched in early September as an agent that works across connected devices and digital accounts, including email and calendars. Meta says its Muse Spark model powers the agent. Connect was less about introducing Muse than about showing how many more places it might work.
Meta gave more detail about planned Mac computer work, which it had discussed before. The proposed capability would let Muse operate desktop apps and keep working through a queue of delegated jobs while the user is away. Chief AI officer Alexandr Wang suggested running a small business as one use; Meta did not give a release date for this broader computer-use capability.
Meta is also developing an email address for Muse. Users would be able to add the agent to a thread or forward it a message to handle. Wang said that feature would arrive “soon,” without a more precise date. The address would give people another way to assign work without starting a separate conversation with the agent.
Glasses put the request within speaking distance
Muse is coming to Meta’s AI glasses for hands-free use. Meta described that connection in its glasses announcement; TechCrunch reported that users would activate the agent with a wake word. Meta’s examples include logging meals, booking appointments and helping buy something a wearer sees. The company says Muse can work in the background and check back when a task is done.
Meta expects glasses access in the coming months, but has not set a more exact date. That timing matters to the pitch: speaking a request while away from a phone is different from asking an agent to work on an already open computer. Both depend on Muse being able to carry the request into the relevant service or app.
More routes from a request to checkout
Meta named Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart and Wayfair among Muse’s new retail partners. Wang said the agent can access Shopify’s product catalog and use Shop Pay; Meta also described added PayPal payment support. Together, those connections give Muse more ways to find products and move toward checkout, though the announcement does not put every retailer connection on the same availability schedule.
Checkout is also part of Meta’s proposed business model. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Muse would be free for a large number of tokens—the units used to measure AI processing—and that Meta expects eventually to take a small fee from transactions. That is a plan for future revenue, not a claim that those fees are already funding the agent.

Connections beyond shopping—and a face
The planned reach is wider than retail. Meta said Muse would connect with Expedia and, later, Instacart; it also listed GitHub, Granola and Notion among its connectors. Developers can apply to build their own connections. Wang said Meta received more than 1,500 applications in less than a week, a measure of interest rather than a count of available integrations.
Meta also demonstrated an avatar that users could talk with on live video while giving Muse tasks or asking questions. The company says a new model, Muse Realtime Avatar, powers it. Unlike a payment connection or Mac app control, the avatar changes how the agent presents itself to a user; it does not, by itself, show how reliably Muse completes a delegated job.
Connect thus set out several different tests for Muse: whether it can take work off a desktop user’s hands, respond usefully through glasses and turn connected shopping services into completed purchases. For now, the clearest distinction is between capabilities Meta described as available, features it demonstrated and additions it still plans to deliver.
