Meta Opens Pocket, a Social Feed for Prompt-Generated Games

Meta is rolling out Pocket, an experimental app for making small interactive games with AI prompts, to all U.S. users after a Brazil test last month. The product turns a prompt into a postable game, then gives other people ways to save, repost or remake it—a creation loop closer to a social feed than a conventional game store.

A game is the unit of social interaction

Pocket users create what Meta calls “gizmos” from AI prompts and publish them into a scrollable feed. A creator can share a gizmo on a profile; people who encounter it can save it, remix it into another creation, or repost it. That sequence makes the output itself both a playable object and material for the next person’s creation.

The games are built around the phone

The product’s more distinctive detail is its use of phone inputs and media. Gizmos can react to taps and handset tilt, play sound effects, incorporate clips from a user’s favorite songs, and draw on camera-roll photos or the device camera. Those capabilities give a generated game ways to use material and controls that are native to a mobile device.

What a gizmo can use

• Touch input and the tilt of a phone.
• Sound effects and clips of favorite songs.
• Photos from a camera roll or access to the device camera.

An acqui-hire becomes a consumer app

Pocket grew out of Meta’s acqui-hire of the team behind Gizmo, a vibe-coded gaming platform, earlier this year. The naming carries into Pocket: Meta uses “gizmos” for the games made in the new app.

Meta positions Pocket within a wider effort to make AI creation tools mainstream. Its recent consumer AI products also include image generation in the Meta AI app and Vibes, an experimental app for AI-generated video. Pocket applies that same creation-tool strategy to interactive games, while adding a built-in system for social reuse.

The test is whether remixes travel

The U.S. release moves Pocket beyond its initial Brazil test and gives Meta a larger audience for its creation-and-remix design. Its central product bet is clear: prompt generation supplies the raw game, while the feed, profiles and reuse features are meant to give that game a social life after it is made.
