Meta is organizing its business AI push as Meta Enterprise Platform, with former MongoDB chief CJ Desai responsible for turning a collection of tools into deployable services. The lineup spans Muse and Meta Business Agent, plus Muse API and Muse Code; Meta is positioning its models and infrastructure behind the effort. But the announcement establishes leadership and direction, not a ready-to-buy suite: Meta gave no...
Desai reports directly to Mark Zuckerberg; he previously led MongoDB, held product-and-engineering leadership at Cloudflare, and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow.
The lineup covers an agent, a business-facing agent, API access for developers, and a coding tool—four distinct surfaces rather than a disclosed unified product.
Meta says security and privacy are built in, but disclosed no controls or evidence for enterprise buyers to evaluate.
Meta is starting a business-focused AI platform that brings its agents and developer tools under one initiative. Former MongoDB CEO Chirantan “CJ” Desai will lead Meta Enterprise Platform and report directly to Mark Zuckerberg. The move gives Meta’s collection of AI products an executive charged with turning them into services companies can deploy.
The initial focus spans the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code. The names describe different ways to use Meta’s AI: an agent, a business-facing agent, model access for developers and a coding tool. Zuckerberg also points to Meta’s models and large-scale infrastructure as assets for the effort. This is a plan to bring those capabilities to business customers, not the debut of a new model.
Desai says the goal is to turn Meta’s AI technology into products and services companies can deploy in their own businesses. That puts a broader job in front of the platform than providing developers with model access alone. It must also account for agents that could serve customers or help employees with work. Meta has named the components of that effort, rather than describing a finished combined service.
Desai joins as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer after serving as MongoDB’s CEO and president. Earlier, he led product and engineering at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, including as president and chief operating officer. His direct reporting line to Zuckerberg puts one leader over an initiative that stretches across several kinds of AI tool. Zuckerberg has framed the platform as the next major pillar of Meta’s business—an ambition, not a measure of demand.
Today we are starting the next major pillar of our business, Meta Enterprise Platform, to help businesses use AI to grow and transform in new ways as well.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta founder and CEO
Meta says it already helps hundreds of millions of businesses reach customers. Those existing relationships give it a way to introduce the enterprise effort, but they do not measure demand for its AI services. The announcement names no enterprise customer commitments. Turning that reach into deployments would be a different test from attracting businesses to Meta’s existing platforms.
Desai says security and privacy are built into Meta’s enterprise products from the outset. The announcement does not detail the measures behind that assertion. For a company considering an agent in its own operations, the difference between a stated design goal and controls it can examine is consequential.
Meta has not explained how the enterprise services will be packaged or priced, and its announcement sets no timetable for offering the tools as a unified platform. Those details will determine whether a company is evaluating individual tools or a broader service it can deploy across its business. For now, Meta has established the platform’s leadership and direction; the terms of a purchase remain to be defined.
