Metal Raises $4.5M for Its AI Fundraising Platform

Metal has raised a $4.5 million seed round led by a16z Speedrun and Y Combinator, backing its AI platform for startup fundraising and venture-capital workflows. The company is trying to make investor research and funding-round work more automated, then extend that role across capital formation.

The fundraising problem behind the product

Metal was founded by Usman Gul, an Airlift co-founder who is also its chief executive. Gul said Airlift raised $120 million in venture financing over three years and contacted roughly 300 unique investors, primarily through warm introductions. About 80% were not a fit at the time for Airlift’s stage, sector, geography or check size, he said.

A seed round for fundraising automation

Metal describes its product as an AI operating system that supplies intelligence and automation during funding rounds. Its stated goal is larger than a single fundraising task: to turn software founders first use to raise capital into infrastructure used throughout the broader capital-formation process.

Named participants

• Pioneer Fund, Rebel Fund and Gaingels participated in the seed round.
• Indus Valley Capital, Team Ignite Ventures and Phaze Ventures were also named as investors.

6Consecutive growth quarters

Gul said Metal recorded six consecutive quarters of quarter-on-quarter growth.

30%Quarter-on-quarter growth range

Gul said quarterly growth ranged from 30% to 80%.

Growth claims and a broader role still to establish

Gul said Metal is tracking toward multi-million-dollar annual revenue in fiscal year 2026. That is a forecast, not a current revenue disclosure, and the six-quarter growth figures are founder-supplied. The seed round follows a strategic investment from Rebel Fund announced in June.

The next move is to show how the product works across that wider process. Key questions include how Metal determines investor fit, which fundraising tasks it automates, and how extensively customers use the platform. Those details will determine whether its capital-formation ambition becomes a durable product role rather than a fundraising-only pitch.
