Morningstar and PitchBook have made an already-live connection to Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, combining public-market research with private-market intelligence in one workspace. Eligible Gemini subscribers can query ratings, companies, funds, investors, transactions, and market activity, with answers designed to cite the underlying providers. PitchBook uses Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol as the integration layer. The strategic bet is that attribution and domain-specific data make.1?
The integration spans Morningstar ratings and research plus PitchBook data on private companies, investors, funds, transactions, and activity.
It was available when announced, not merely a planned partnership.
Users can research investments and markets without switching between applications.
Morningstar is connecting PitchBook to Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services. The integration is meant to give financial professionals one AI workspace for investment research and private-capital intelligence, with generated analysis tied back to Morningstar and PitchBook content.
Eligible Google Gemini subscribers will be able to access Morningstar ratings and research covering public and private markets within the platform. The connection combines Morningstar’s public-market data, analysis and research with PitchBook coverage of private-market companies, investors, funds, transactions and market activity.
The system is designed to generate source-attributed research and analysis grounded in the two providers’ content. It is also intended to handle targeted questions about investments, markets, companies and private-capital activity without requiring users to move between applications.
Morningstar’s Seth Sprinkle said the value of AI depends on the quality of the information it uses, and said the company wants to preserve transparency about the sources behind answers. PitchBook’s Tom Van Buskirk said its combination of AI tools and human insight, alongside Morningstar data, is meant to give Google’s enterprise AI more verifiable grounding.
PitchBook is connecting its services through Model Context Protocol, or MCP, an open-source system created by Anthropic. The integrated system had already rolled out when the announcement was published, making this an available product connection rather than a future plan.
Google Cloud’s Satish Thomas said access to Morningstar’s domain-specific data can help financial professionals speed investment research and make decisions with confidence. That outcome is the partnership’s central promise: Gemini provides the workspace, while Morningstar and PitchBook supply the financial material meant to ground the answers.
