Story brief
3 key pointsAnnounced August 26, Numa’s acquisition of SocketTime moves its dealership AI closer to the operational source of truth: changing repair orders, shop capacity, and promised completion times. That could let customer-facing agents coordinate around work already underway instead of treating appointment availability as static. SocketTime supplies the real-time scheduling, dispatch, inspection, and capacity layer; Numa supplies the communications footprint.

Numa reports more than 1 billion communications across 1,300 dealerships in the U.S. and Canada.
Numa has acquired SocketTime, adding dealership service software that tracks scheduling, dispatch, inspections and repair work to its AI system. The deal brings the live conditions behind a customer’s service promise closer to the AI agents that communicate with that customer.
When a repair grows, capacity changes
SocketTime provides tools for service scheduling, advisor writeups, dispatch, technician utilization, multipoint inspections, used-car reconditioning and customer communications. Its scheduling, writeup and capacity-management systems work in real time: added maintenance or an approved inspection can increase a repair order, then feed back into remaining capacity and appointment availability.
That feedback loop is the operational mechanism behind the acquisition. Numa says the combined system will connect its AI agents and customer-communication software with service capacity, dispatch, inspections, approvals, parts coordination, reconditioning and management visibility. The intended result is a system that can account for work already in the shop before taking on more.
Agents are planned to act on that context
Numa’s next step is an expansion of its agents into work that moves during the service day. Its plans include scheduling and resequencing jobs against technician skills and available capacity, turning customer concerns into structured intake before a vehicle arrives, and converting technician videos and inspection findings into approval-ready messages.
Other planned agent work
- Present factory-recommended maintenance using vehicle history and OEM guidance.
- Send service-status and delay notifications, and identify potential customer-satisfaction issues.
- Support service, reconditioning and trade opportunities across dealership groups.
A wider base for an operational bet
Numa says it has processed more than one billion communications for more than 1,300 dealerships in the U.S. and Canada, and that its integrations cover 90 percent of the dealership management system market. SocketTime gives that communications footprint a shop-level operating record; Numa announced the acquisition on August 26.
The acquisition changes the inputs available to Numa’s AI, while the proposed agent functions remain plans. Its strategy now depends on joining changing shop data with customer communication in the same operating workflow.
