The release supports cloud and local models, but the official release notes qualify the built-in AI pitch: open-source versions require separate installation.

ONLYOFFICE Docs 10.0 adds file-aware AI features to its office suite, but access depends on deployment: open-source and Desktop Community users must install the AI tools separately, while cloud users need to top up their Wallet. Server installations can connect local models and assign different models to specific tasks, giving organizations more deployment flexibility. The release also bundles four modular apps and reports fixes for around 35 vulnerabilities, though ONLYOFFICE plans to detail the security changes in a separate post.
Quick AI actions and document-changing assistants are currently limited to the text document editor, not all four editors.
The four free AGPL v3 apps are AI Agents, Forms, Files and Rooms; cloud deployments enable them by default.
AI Agents adds workspace automation, search and a personalized knowledge base, while Rooms supports Virtual Data Rooms.
ONLYOFFICE released version 10.0 on October 10, 2026, bringing document-aware AI tools to its text, spreadsheet, presentation and PDF editors. The update puts chat and editing help inside the file workflow, alongside four modular apps. But there is an important availability distinction: open-source editions require users to install the AI tools separately.
A dedicated AI Tools tab opens chat inside the editors. ONLYOFFICE says the tools use each file’s context to keep suggestions relevant, rather than requiring users to copy material into a separate assistant. Default prompts provide common actions, while saved prompts let users reuse their own requests.
The tasks differ by file type. In PDFs, the company describes question answering, one-click summaries, email drafting from file contents and sensitive-information redaction. Text documents get rewriting, translation, proofreading, table-of-contents creation and automatic formatting. These are the company’s descriptions of supported functions, not independently measured results.
Spreadsheet AI can generate and explain formulas, identify trends, build forecasts and Pivot Tables, clean inconsistent data and fill missing values. Presentation tools can suggest outlines and slide titles, draft bullet points, and generate speaker notes or visual ideas. The scope extends beyond writing into data preparation and slide structure.
There is also a distinction between one-off help and ongoing assistance. Quick AI actions handle tasks such as changing a passage’s tone; assistants respond as a document changes. Both features are currently limited to the document editor, rather than available across all four editors.
The corporate announcement describes built-in AI chat, but the official release notes add a narrower availability note. ONLYOFFICE says it removed built-in AI from open-source versions in response to user feedback; those users install the tools separately. Its Desktop Community edition likewise offers AI as an optional add-on.
Cloud users must top up their Wallet to enable the ONLYOFFICE AI service, which the corporate announcement says works through OpenRouter. Server builds can connect models including local ones for privacy-sensitive uses. In either environment, users can select a default model and assign different models to particular tasks.
The release also introduces four free modular apps extending ONLYOFFICE Docs under the AGPL v3 open-source license. The company describes them as components users can mix and match. In cloud deployments, the apps are enabled by default; server users can install them with a single command.
The PDF editor adds metadata removal to strip hidden information before sharing, automatic table recognition during editing and reusable signatures in forms. In text documents, collaborators can follow another user’s cursor. A “Keep with next” setting keeps related content together, including headings and the material that follows them.
ONLYOFFICE says spreadsheet performance improves through separate storage of styles and data, and by processing only the cells an operation needs. Several calculation functions have been optimized. Formula range highlighting and hints add more visible guidance, while presentations gain additional viewing modes, broader print settings and GIF or video export.
ONLYOFFICE says Docs 10.0 addresses around 35 vulnerabilities. It plans to explain the key security improvements in a separate blog post.
Desktop editors receive a refreshed homepage, redesigned Templates and Clouds sections, Odoo integration and Linux visual improvements. The free iOS and Android apps add an AI assistant with providers including Grok and DeepSeek, AI AutoFill for forms and voice input. These mobile additions belong to the same version 10.0 update.
