HPE Issues Oracle Warrants in AI Network Deal With Financing and Telemetry

HPE has issued Oracle warrants to buy HPE common stock under an AI networking collaboration that also includes financing capabilities, multi-year support services and joint telemetry work. The underlying global Juniper equipment deployment remains potential, and neither a guaranteed purchase volume nor revenue was disclosed.

The arrangement goes beyond specifying network hardware for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. HPE said it has issued the warrants as part of the agreement, while the collaboration includes financing capabilities and multi-year networking support services. The companies describe the equipment portion as a potential multi-year deployment across Oracle data centers globally.

Large GPU clusters rely on the network to move data among machines. HPE says those environments demand bandwidth, low latency, congestion management and fault recovery. Its telemetry collaboration with Oracle is intended to provide earlier visibility into queue buildup, packet loss, traffic imbalances and component degradation across devices and the network fabric that connects them.

HPE says earlier detection can help OCI resolve network issues faster and reduce their effect on GPU utilization and network availability. Those are intended benefits of the collaboration, not reported operating results.

The hardware scope

• PTX and MX routing platforms are included in the potential global deployment.
• QFX and EX switching platforms are also covered by the prospective rollout.
• HPE says its latest QFX switches are designed for high-density connectivity, dynamic load balancing and congestion management in large RoCEv2 AI backend networks.

The potential expansion builds on Juniper equipment already inside OCI, according to HPE. MX and PTX routers support portions of Oracle’s edge network, while QFX switches power multiple layers of its regional data-center fabric. The newly specified commercial terms and telemetry work now sit alongside that existing technical footprint.
