Profound is using a rapid follow-on fundraise to turn its AI-search visibility product into an execution layer for marketing teams. The $180 million Series D values the startup at $1.8 billion, with capital earmarked for agent products, model research, and a benchmark for judgment-heavy marketing tasks. AI Marketer can delegate work to sub-agents, while Ads Studio spans OpenAI, Google, and Meta ad managers.
Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins co-led the round, less than seven months after Profound’s $96 million Series C.
Profound says it serves 1,000-plus enterprise brands, including over one-third of the Fortune 100; revenue reportedly tripled in six months.
AI Marketer combines brand analysis, opportunity discovery, and delegated execution through specialized sub-agents.
Profound has raised a $180 million Series D at a $1.8 billion valuation, giving the AI marketing startup new capital to push beyond measuring brand visibility in AI search results and into automated marketing work. Sequoia Capital and Kleiner Perkins co-led the financing, which arrives less than seven months after Profound’s $96 million Series C.
The company provides software intended to help brands understand and improve how they show up in AI-generated search answers. Its expansion is built around AI Marketer, a system Profound describes as an agent orchestrator for marketing workflows, and Context Manager, which brings together company knowledge and information about an individual’s working style for that agent.
That product direction reflects a more expansive ambition than analytics alone. Profound says AI Marketer can scan brand data, analyze AI answers, identify opportunities and deploy sub-agents to complete work. The company also says its Ads Studio can build, launch and manage AI Search campaigns across OpenAI, Google and Meta ad managers.
Profound says it now serves more than 1,000 enterprise brands, including more than one-third of the Fortune 100. Named customers include Comcast, The Estée Lauder Companies and Walmart; the company also told TechCrunch that revenue tripled over the preceding six months.
Profound’s research plans point to the central difficulty in its pitch. The company says marketing work depends on judgment rather than simply determining whether an answer is objectively correct. Its planned benchmark is meant to test how far AI can go on complex assignments across marketing functions, then inform improvements to AI Marketer.
The financing gives Profound room to pursue a larger claim: that marketers can use agents not only to see where a brand appears in AI answers, but to execute the work that follows. The company’s announced capabilities span research, content work, reporting, campaign management and advertising. Its own evaluation effort will be a consequential test of whether those systems can handle the competing signals and changing brand context that marketing requires.
