Around 30 robots arrived outside Poland’s Digital Affairs Ministry in Warsaw on September 7 to demand stronger AI rules and protection for workers. The machines carried workplace slogans, but the immediate official response was a meeting and a warning from the digital minister—not a new law or regulatory action.
The protest was organized by Democratism, an initiative focused on how AI and robotization could reshape the labor market. Humanoid robots and dog-like quadrupeds marched in circles as recorded chants played over loudspeakers, turning an argument about automation into a public demonstration by the kinds of machines at issue.
The organizers’ message was direct. Grzegorz Kuliś said the group wanted to confront the possible replacement of people by humanoid robots and AI used for cognitive work. One Agibot A3 humanoid also answered journalists’ questions, underscoring that the event was designed to show machines already performing visible, interactive tasks.
Kuliś met Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski outside the ministry. Gawkowski did not announce a response to the protest, but he endorsed the concern about increasingly capable robots running AI systems.

The protest landed shortly after Poland put the EU AI Act into domestic law. President Karol Nawrocki signed the implementing bill in July, creating a national authority that can enforce existing EU AI regulations. That gives Poland an enforcement mechanism, but it is not a new labor-protection program created by Monday’s event.
Democratism’s case is that compliance with AI rules does not, by itself, answer what happens when employers replace workers with software or machines. Startup Fortune characterized that as a gap in the EU AI Act’s focus on risk controls, transparency duties and obligations for AI-model providers. The demonstration did not spell out a particular worker-protection measure, leaving its policy demand broader than a legislative proposal.
The robots themselves were reportedly made by Delta Robots, a Polish company that produces humanoid and quadruped machines. That detail sharpened the protest’s central contradiction: robotics was used to make a warning about automation more vivid, rather than to argue against technological development outright.
Poland is also planning a Commission for the Development and Security of Artificial Intelligence and regulatory sandboxes, according to Euronews. Those reported plans concern AI oversight and testing before wider deployment. Whether policymakers will add a more specific response to workplace displacement remains unresolved after the robots left the ministry.
