Story brief
3 key pointsIn an October 14, 2026 announcement, Runway and Baseten added an enterprise deployment path for Runway’s video models: customers license the model weights from Runway, while Baseten operates the infrastructure. Organizations can use single-tenant environments, dedicated GPU capacity and versions fine-tuned on their own data without running the underlying platform themselves. Baseten’s 99.99% uptime commitment is an SLA, not measured performance for these deployments; its SOC 2 and HIPAA coverage applies to the infrastructure, not each customer application.

Runway is offering enterprises dedicated access to its video models, while Baseten will run the infrastructure. In an October 14, 2026 partnership announcement, Baseten said Gen-4.5 and Aleph 2.0 are now available in single-tenant environments—computing environments reserved for one organization. The arrangement also supports versions fine-tuned on a company’s own data.
A Runway license, with Baseten handling operations
The partnership adds a deployment option for models Runway also offers through its own services. Runway Creative provides tools for generating and editing video, images and audio. Runway Dev provides developer access through an API, the interface applications use to send requests.
Customers license the model weights—the learned parameters that determine a model’s behavior—directly from Runway, then deploy them on Baseten. That license also governs fine-tuning, which adapts models using customer data. Baseten supplies the infrastructure for customization and running the resulting model.
Runway and Baseten jointly support customers from model customization through production serving, the stage when a deployed model handles requests.
Dedicated GPUs do not mean customer-run infrastructure
Each deployment uses an isolated workload plane, the environment where the model runs, with dedicated GPU resources. Compute and scheduling are isolated to the customer’s organization. Baseten still operates the control plane and underlying infrastructure.
Baseten says customers receive reserved GPU capacity for video-generation workloads, with autoscaling to increase capacity during demand spikes. Its access to Runway’s weights is governed by a distribution agreement.
The company also says deployments run on infrastructure covered by its SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance programs. That coverage concerns the infrastructure, not a separate compliance determination for each customer application.
Baseten backs dedicated deployments with this service-level agreement: a service commitment, not a measured uptime result for the new Runway deployments.
Custom training for generation and editing
Baseten describes fine-tuning as a way to make outputs reflect a company’s brand, established creative material and content guidelines. The two models handle different parts of video production:
- Gen-4.5 generates video from text and images. Baseten describes support for scene direction, camera movement and varied visual styles, with uses including storyboard visualization, product animation and campaign variations.
- Aleph 2.0 edits generated or real footage using prompts or edited keyframes. Baseten says changes can carry across relevant shots while preserving surrounding details. It supports multi-scene videos up to 30 seconds at 1080p.
