Story brief
3 key pointsSakana AI has launched My Fish, a web and mobile interface for Sakana Chat’s persistent memory, turning stored context into an inspectable record rather than an invisible personalization layer. Users can trace facts to source conversations, see when memories were read or written, and identify which memories were combined in a reply. Memory remains enabled by default but can be disabled in settings; the release provides visibility, while Sakana says more accurate memory selection and updating are future improvement goals.

My Fish groups saved facts into profile, preferences, current projects and favorite topics, and shows each memory’s size, read frequency and last use.
- 02
Its Connections graph links memories that were used in the same reply; faded nodes mark memories unused for at least 30 days.

A History timeline records memory reads and writes, and expanding a write shows the facts added.
Sakana Chat users can now inspect the personal details their chatbot carries between conversations—and see when those details resurface. Sakana AI has added My Fish, a web and mobile feature that exposes saved memories, their origins and their use in replies. It makes a previously behind-the-scenes feature visible while users chat.
From background recall to a visible record
Sakana introduced its memory feature in a September update. Rather than treating every conversation detail as something to remember, the company says it focuses on information likely to remain useful across chats. That includes preferred response styles, ongoing projects, goals and useful details about the user.
My Fish adds a place to examine that accumulated context. Its Overview groups memories into categories such as profile information, preferences, current projects and favorite topics. Each memory shows the number of facts it contains, how often it has been read and when it was last used.
Opening a memory reveals the individual facts and the conversations they came from, with a direct route back to the original chat. That gives users a way to trace a saved detail to its source, rather than seeing only a summary of what the assistant knows.
A map of what gets used together
The Connections view arranges memories around a central fish. Position, size and color each convey a different part of their usage history. Memories used more recently sit closer to the center. Larger nodes represent more frequently used memories, while a faded node marks one that has not been used for at least 30 days.
The lines have a specific meaning: they connect memories used in the same reply. They show which pieces of stored information Sakana Chat has combined, not simply which subjects sound related. Selecting a node reveals its facts, when it was learned, where it was used and which memories often appeared alongside it.
Related memories are links users can follow through the map; selecting the central fish opens their profile. On mobile, tapping a node opens a drawer from the bottom of the screen. The graph shifts to keep the selected memory visible, and swiping up reveals its full details.
Two other displays provide a time-based view. A heatmap at the top shows when memories were used and when new information was learned, remaining visible across views. History supplies a detailed timeline of memory reads and writes. Expanding a write reveals exactly which facts were added.
Memory leaves a trace inside the chat
Users do not have to leave a conversation to notice memory activity. When Sakana Chat reads or saves a memory while composing a response, a small chip appears in its displayed thinking process. Selecting it opens the relevant memory directly in My Fish, connecting that moment in the reply to the stored information.
My Fish is available through Settings → My Fish on web and mobile. Sakana describes visibility as the first step, with further work aimed at choosing more accurately what deserves to be remembered and updating it as circumstances change. Those are stated improvement goals; this release centers on inspecting the memory already at work.
