Salesforce’s agreement to acquire Loops could move Tableau beyond showing performance changes toward explaining their causes and surfacing possible responses. Loops monitors business metrics and identifies trends or unusual shifts; Salesforce says the deal fits its agentic-analytics strategy, but these capabilities are not yet a newly released Tableau feature. The agreement remains subject to customary conditions, with closing expected in early November of Salesforce FY2027 and no purchase price disclosed.
Salesforce plans to integrate Loops’s specialized talent alongside its technology after the transaction closes.
Loops can be triggered from Slack and email to monitor KPIs and flag what is driving changes.
Tableau EVP Mark Recher said the combined offering could help customers identify actions for both teams and AI agents.
Salesforce wants Tableau to help businesses understand why results change and decide what to do next. On October 12, 2026, it announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Loops, an AI-powered analytics platform. The announcement sets out an acquisition agreement, rather than a completed transaction.
Salesforce describes Loops as a platform that uses machine learning to continuously monitor business performance, explain changes in key metrics and surface opportunities to improve. Its stated role goes beyond showing that a number moved: it is intended to identify the factors behind the change and help teams decide how to respond.
The company says Loops can be triggered directly from Slack and email. From there, it can monitor key performance indicators—the measures a business uses to track results—identify trends and unusual changes, and proactively surface what is driving them. These are capabilities Salesforce describes for Loops, not a newly released Tableau feature.
Salesforce places the deal within its “agentic analytics” strategy: using AI to help customers prioritize actions and act on findings within their work. Mark Recher, Tableau’s executive vice president and general manager, said the goal includes identifying where both teams and AI agents can take action.
“Together, we’ll have the opportunity to bring what we’ve built to customers at an entirely new scale.”
Tom Laufer, CEO and co-founder of Loops, in Salesforce’s announcement
Following completion of the transaction, Salesforce plans to bring Loops’s technology and specialized talent into Tableau. The integration plan therefore covers both the software and the people behind it. Laufer said Salesforce and Tableau share Loops’s vision of making actionable analytics accessible to every organization.
Salesforce expects the transaction to close in early November of its fiscal year 2027, subject to customary closing conditions. The announcement did not disclose a purchase price.
