Salesforce says its Agentforce and Data 360 businesses now generate $3.4 billion in combined annual recurring revenue, while ServiceNow says its AI annual contract value has passed $1 billion. Those are different measures, so this is not a clean apples-to-apples ranking. But it shows two major enterprise software companies making AI traction central to their platform strategies. Salesforce is starting with the systems companies already use: customer data, applications, and CRM workflows. It says Agentforce can add AI agents to that existing stack, rather than requiring businesses to replace it. The company’s support agent, Casey, has resolved five million issues on Salesforce’s help site, with escalation to human workers when needed. Salesforce also says Dell uses its Regrello supply-chain product to contact 20,000 suppliers each day through agents. ServiceNow is taking a broader control-layer approach. Its AI Control Tower is designed to govern workflows, agents, and models across an organization. More than 500 customers are live on it, and ServiceNow says agentic deployments increased ninefold in nine months. It also reported 123 new deals worth more than $1 million in annual contract value. The financial backdrop differs too. Salesforce grew revenue 13 percent to $11.13 billion and authorized a $25 billion share repurchase. ServiceNow’s subscription revenue rose 24.5 percent to $3.877 billion, while acquisition-related amortization pressured operating income. The key question is whether reported agent deployments become durable usage—and whether ServiceNow can expand its control layer while absorbing those acquisition costs.

Story brief

3 key points

Salesforce and ServiceNow are using different commercial measures to make enterprise AI traction visible: Salesforce combines Agentforce and Data 360 into $3.4 billion of annual recurring revenue, while ServiceNow reports more than $1 billion in AI annual contract value. The comparison is imperfect, but the strategies differ: Salesforce is extending existing CRM and data infrastructure, while ServiceNow is building...

  1. 01

ServiceNow reported 500-plus customers live on AI Control Tower and a ninefold increase in agentic deployments over nine months.

  2. 02

Salesforce says its support agent Casey has resolved 5 million help.salesforce.com issues, with human escalation available.

  3. 03

Salesforce expects Slack-based dynamic interfaces within 12 months, but says governance, security and compliance still slow adoption.

Enterprise AI spending is increasingly a fight over the software that connects models to company data and daily work. Salesforce says Agentforce and Data 360 generate $3.4 billion in combined AI-and-data annual recurring revenue, while ServiceNow says its AI annual contract value has passed $1 billion. The figures are not interchangeable, but they show two large enterprise vendors putting AI commercial traction at the center of their platform pitches.

Salesforce is positioning Agentforce as an agentic CRM platform. ServiceNow is positioning AI Control Tower as a governed system of action across workflows and models. Benioff’s Salesforce argument is that companies will augment, rather than entirely replace, established systems such as Salesforce, Microsoft, SAP and data lakes.

Salesforce starts with the systems already in place

Marc Benioff says most Salesforce customers are still early in their AI journeys, held back by security, governance, compliance and control requirements. He describes the progression as prompts, then agents, then dynamic interfaces that combine enterprise systems with probabilistic AI. Salesforce expects to offer interface capabilities through Slack within 12 months.

The four layers Salesforce says enterprises must assemble

  • Governed, integrated data before broader AI deployment.
  • Applications and semantic layers to ground AI outputs in business context.
  • Agentic capabilities to perform tasks and automate work.
  • Dynamic interfaces that bring data, applications and agents into tailored experiences.

Deployment evidence points in different directions

Salesforce is using agent deployments to demonstrate operational results. Benioff said its customer-support agent Casey has resolved 5 million issues on help.salesforce.com and can escalate to people when needed. He also said Dell uses Salesforce’s Regrello supply-chain product to contact 20,000 suppliers daily through agents.

ServiceNow’s evidence emphasizes commercial adoption and breadth. It reported 123 net-new annual-contract-value deals above $1 million, said agentic deployments increased ninefold over nine months, and said more than 500 customers were live on AI Control Tower. It also cited $2 billion in CRM annual contract value and said Sales CRM deal sizes had doubled.

Growth and capital allocation diverge

Salesforce reported $11.13 billion in revenue, up 13% year over year, a 34.8% non-GAAP operating margin and $6.7 billion in operating cash flow. It also announced a $25 billion accelerated share repurchase. ServiceNow reported $3.877 billion in subscription revenue, up 24.5% year over year.

ServiceNow’s GAAP operating income fell 54.75%, with amortization from the Moveworks, Veza and Armis acquisitions cited as a factor. The next test is whether Salesforce can turn production-agent growth into durable usage, and whether ServiceNow can expand its control-layer strategy while absorbing acquisition-related costs.
