Tencent Cloud says overseas customers doubled as international AI demand surged
Demand for AI agents is helping drive the company’s international business, alongside capacity additions across six locations and further infrastructure expansion planned.
At its October 29, 2026 Global Digital Ecosystem Summit, Tencent Cloud paired international growth claims with a broader buildout of infrastructure. Its network spans 25 regions and 70 availability zones, and the company plans further expansion across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas over the next year. The figures point to growing demand for its overseas cloud and AI services, but they do not establish AI revenue: the doubled customer count covers overseas cloud customers overall, and Tencent did not explain how it measures AI demand.

Tencent says nine out of ten Chinese internet companies expanding globally use its cloud services, alongside customers based in other markets.
Tencent Cloud says its active overseas customer base doubled over the past year, while international demand for its AI products and services grew by triple digits. The company disclosed the figures in its October 29, 2026 announcement from the Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit, alongside capacity additions to support its international business.
AI agents drive demand, but the measures differ
Tencent attributes its international AI business growth to strong demand for AI agents—systems designed to carry out tasks. The customer doubling covers its overall overseas cloud business, rather than an AI-only customer group. Its announcement does not define how AI demand is measured or disclose international AI revenue, so the figures are not matching measures of sales.
Tencent Cloud serves customers in more than 150 countries and regions. Its international business also includes Chinese companies moving abroad: Tencent says nine out of ten Chinese internet companies expanding globally use its cloud services. That customer base extends beyond businesses headquartered overseas.

More capacity behind the customer map
To meet growing international demand, Tencent says it added infrastructure capacity during 2026 in locations including Frankfurt, Osaka, Riyadh, Malaysia, Mexico and Thailand. The additions span its international network, supporting a business that serves both companies entering new markets and customers operating in their home countries.
Existing customer work illustrates that reach. Tencent helped Indonesian telecoms operator XLSMART migrate more than 1,000 microservices, the smaller software components that make up applications. In Europe, payments provider iyzico and e-commerce platform eMAG have moved workloads to Tencent Cloud, with continuing collaboration in big data and AI.
Further infrastructure expansion is planned over the next year across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. That next phase would extend the footprint beyond the capacity Tencent has already added during 2026.
