TransPerfect announced the acquisition on October 1, 2026; financial terms were not disclosed.
TransPerfect has acquired Synterex, bringing both specialist medical writers and AI-assisted document software into its life-sciences business. Announced on October 1, 2026, the purchase pairs clinical and regulatory writing expertise with a larger service operation. TransPerfect’s stated goal is to connect the work from drafting through submission, with fewer handoffs along the way.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Synterex will operate as a division of TransPerfect Life Sciences, rather than being described as a standalone software purchase. Founder and President Jeanette Towles and the Synterex team will remain with the company, keeping the people behind its writing services and technology inside the acquired business.
A writing consultancy with its own AI software
Based in Dedham, Massachusetts, Synterex is a disability-owned and woman-owned consultancy serving biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Its work includes clinical and regulatory writing, development services and technology-enabled solutions. It also specializes in agile-based project management, automation and AI-driven technologies, combining scientific and medical-writing experience with tools intended to improve document production.
Its AgileWriter.ai software supports AI-assisted authoring, review and content management for regulated documents. The platform’s stated purpose is to accelerate the development of that content and reduce manual effort. Synterex describes its approach as preserving governance, traceability and human oversight—the controls, records and professional judgment surrounding the writing process—rather than removing those safeguards to gain speed.
Towles framed the transaction as a way to combine that expertise and technology with TransPerfect’s global infrastructure and client relationships. Her statement put scientific knowledge and human judgment alongside responsible technology, making continuity in the consultancy’s approach part of the acquisition’s pitch, not just continuity in its staffing.
Synterex was built on the belief that deep scientific expertise, agile ways of working, and responsible technology can improve how clinical and regulatory content is developed. Combining Synterex’s expertise and technology with TransPerfect’s global infrastructure and client relationships gives us an opportunity to advance that work while continuing to put quality, human judgment, and the needs of our clients and patients at the center of our next chapter.

The team joins an existing life-sciences operation
TransPerfect Life Sciences already supports the development and commercialization of drugs, treatments and devices. Its services include clinical-trial management technology, regulated-content management, drug-safety services, translation and call-center support. Synterex therefore enters a business with responsibilities beyond writing, giving the proposed integration a wider service base than the acquired consultancy’s authoring platform alone.
TransPerfect President and Co-CEO Phil Shawe said the companies would bring their combined capabilities to customers. The transaction also involved separate advisory teams: Silverwood Partners and Mintz advised Synterex, while DLA Piper LLP advised TransPerfect. Those disclosed arrangements identify who supported the purchase, but the announcement provides no acquisition price.
The next step is a connected document workflow
TransPerfect says the combined offering will expand its existing medical-writing capabilities across document types and therapeutic areas. It describes an integrated workflow from authoring through submission, intended to reduce transfers between participants and provide greater traceability across the content’s lifecycle. The claimed benefit is therefore about how the work moves between stages, as well as how individual documents are drafted.
The company also says customers can adopt AI-assisted medical writing without sacrificing the safeguards required in regulated environments. Those are promises about the combined service, not measured results disclosed with the deal. The announcement gives no quantified improvement in document turnaround or quality, and no dated implementation schedule for the integrated workflow.
