Verda has raised $189 million for an AI-cloud expansion that reaches far beyond its live Finnish data-center capacity. The funding supports a plan for more than 250 megawatts of operations in 2027, spanning Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia.
Emergence Capital led the Series B, which takes Verda’s disclosed funding across equity and debt to more than $450 million. The Helsinki-based company says it will use the new capital to expand AI compute capacity, inference infrastructure and platform services.
A buildout with one live base
The company has data-center capacity live in Finland, while the larger geographic footprint remains planned. That distinction matters: the financing backs equipment, facilities and services that customers cannot use until those projects are deployed.
Verda is pitching more than rented GPU access. It says it provides managed AI inference, builds its own compilers and serving software, and runs performance and reliability engineering. Inference is the work of generating an answer from an AI model after it has been trained.
What Verda says the money will support
- More AI compute capacity and platform services for enterprise customers.
- Faster provisioning and setup for instant clusters, alongside investment in its internal AI lab.
- Early deployments of Nvidia VR200 NVL72 rack-scale supercomputers.
Hardware plans predate the round
The financing extends an expansion path Verda had already outlined. In June, it said its earliest Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 and HGX Rubin NVL8 deployments would begin in the second half of 2026 across Europe, the United States and Asia-Pacific. It also projected capacity exceeding 100,000 GPUs throughout 2027.
Those targets are company plans, not present operating capacity. The announced round gives Verda more money to execute them, while its ability to turn planned sites and new systems into dependable service will determine how much of that ambition reaches customers.
Backers and customers
Participants in the round included MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma, Lifeline Ventures, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders and Tesi, along with angel investors Ola Tørudbakken and Mark Saroufim. Verda says it serves organizations in more than 50 countries and names Aleph Alpha, Magnific and Epsilon Health among its customers.
The round therefore finances a specific wager: that a European provider can build and operate enough capacity across regions while retaining the engineering layer that differentiates a cloud platform from a collection of GPU servers. Verda has set out the scale it wants. Delivery is the next measure.
