WATER has raised $2.5 million in seed funding led by Endiya Partners to develop adaptive surfaces that the company says can sense and respond to the human body in real time. Its first products are an adaptive chair and bed built around a shared model, VORTEX.
Money arrives before the proof
The round included Pullela Gopichand, Darwinbox co-founder Rohit Chennamaneni, Swiggy co-founder Nandan Reddy and other angel investors. WATER was founded in 2024 by Teja Vinukollu and Haneesh Mourya Desu, and is based in Hyderabad.
The financing puts a defined technical question at the center of the company’s next phase. WATER is still developing its first products, and has described the capital as funding technical validation rather than announcing a completed result or a commercial rollout.
Two surfaces, one stated system
WATER is building FLOW, an adaptive chair, and CAMA, an adaptive bed. The company says both are powered by VORTEX, which it describes as a foundational model for understanding how a human body interacts with its physical environment. That shared-model design is the premise behind treating seating and sleeping as related product problems rather than separate devices.
WATER says the products combine sensing, decision-making and physical actuation. Put plainly, its proposed sequence is to detect signals from a person, determine a response, then alter how the chair or bed behaves. The company has presented that mechanism as a real-time response to the body; its performance has not yet been established through the validation work it says the new money will support.
The first two product jobs
- FLOW is intended to focus on posture, movement and load while a person is seated.
- CAMA is intended to focus on sleep, recovery and respiration.
The next test is broader than either product
WATER says the funding will support continued validation of whether VORTEX’s understanding transfers across products and users. For the company, that means the near-term work is not only whether FLOW can address seated posture or CAMA can address sleep-related needs. It is whether the same underlying model can remain useful when the surface and the person change.
That distinction also sets a boundary on the company’s longer-range ambitions. WATER has identified automotive, aviation and other physical environments as possible future applications, but those are plans. The evidence to watch first is narrower: whether tests of its chair and bed show that VORTEX can carry its understanding between the company’s initial products and their users.
