AWS has made six named AI model families available through Amazon Bedrock in AWS GovCloud (US), giving regulated U.S. workloads a common route to models from Amazon, Anthropic, Meta, NVIDIA, OpenAI and xAI. The change puts model selection inside AWS’s isolated government-cloud environment, but authorization still varies by model and compliance level.
AWS says the models are available now to customers through Bedrock in GovCloud. The environment is designed for regulated workloads; AWS says data remains on U.S. soil and that its infrastructure is physically and logically operated by U.S. citizens working in the country.
A broader catalog enters the government boundary
The listed families are Amazon Nova, Anthropic Claude, Meta Llama, NVIDIA Nemotron, OpenAI models and xAI Grok. AWS also describes the GovCloud catalog as growing, with additional frontier models intended to arrive through the same service as they launch.

Bedrock supplies the switching layer
AWS says the available models use Bedrock’s unified API and native software-development kits. Customers can change a single endpoint URL to access or migrate among models, rather than integrate each provider through a separate interface. Bedrock also includes evaluation tools that AWS says customers can use to benchmark models against their own data and requirements.
The compliance boundary remains the decision point
AWS says GovCloud workloads can inherit cloud compliance authorizations including FedRAMP High and Defense Department Impact Levels 4 and 5, rather than build a compliance package from scratch. Those designations apply subject to each model’s authorization status. AWS also says customer data in this environment is not used to train or improve the models.
From catalog access to workload selection
For agencies already operating in GovCloud, AWS says the next step is to enable Bedrock, check model access for the required compliance level, and evaluate candidates against their own requirements. AWS positions the multi-model setup as a way to select models by task and cost, but it did not publish comparative performance results with the announcement.
