CloudNC Raises $20M to Scale AI Software for Precision Machining

CloudNC has raised $20 million to grow software that helps machine shops convert part designs into instructions for precision cutting equipment. The financing is aimed at wider adoption of CAM Assist and at new products, including Quote Agent, a planned AI tool for manufacturing quotes and estimates.
Nimble Ventures led the round, joined by Calculus Venture Capital, Entrepreneur First and LM Ventures, Lockheed Martin’s venture fund. CloudNC says the capital will support customer adoption, commercial operations, support and partner activity in new and existing markets. TechCrunch described the deal as a Series B extension and reported that CloudNC said it brings lifetime funding to $128 million.
From design to a machine-ready plan
CAM Assist operates at the programming stage. CloudNC says it uses AI to generate machining strategies and toolpaths from computer-aided manufacturing models, helping teams move from design toward production. CNC, short for computer numerical control, uses software-directed machines to cut or shape material into precise parts.
The proposed workflow
- CAM Assist selects suitable tools, approach directions, cutting feeds and speeds, then drafts the code that directs a CNC machine.
- A machinist or programmer then reviews, edits and approves the proposed result before it is used.
- CloudNC describes the system as automating first-pass planning and repetitive setup rather than replacing expert judgment.
CloudNC says CAM Assist is used by more than 1,000 machine shops worldwide.
Quoting is the next, unproven step
Quote Agent is planned for availability later in 2026. CloudNC says it will help manufacturers assess new jobs and prepare quotes, including estimated project cost and risk. That work comes before programming: it concerns whether and how a shop prices incoming work before committing people and machines.
CloudNC argues that slow quoting can cost a shop an opportunity and inaccurate pricing can reduce margin once production begins. It says Quote Agent is intended to make estimates faster and more consistent while retaining expert judgment. Those are the company’s stated goals, not independently verified results from a product that is not yet available.
Expansion includes a regulated-market route
CloudNC names Lockheed Martin and Major Tool and Machine as existing CAM Assist customers. It is also working with Knox Systems toward FedRAMP authorization, which CloudNC says could help government agencies, defense contractors and other organizations with stringent compliance needs use the software for sensitive manufacturing workloads. Authorization has not been granted.
The funding gives CloudNC room to broaden a human-reviewed programming product while it develops a second AI system for an earlier commercial decision. Whether Quote Agent can make that judgment reliably remains a test for its planned release.
