Dayforce announced on October 23, 2026, that it had signed an agreement to acquire Ribbon AI, seeking to automate more early-stage recruiting work. The planned purchase would bring conversational voice and video interviewing technology, alongside sourcing and outreach tools, into software employers use to find, screen and engage job candidates.
The purchase price and closing date were not disclosed. Dayforce plans to integrate Ribbon’s technology into Dayforce Agentic Recruiting after the transaction closes; the acquisition is not yet complete.
An interviewer that starts with the job description
Ribbon’s voice interviewer conducts two-way conversations around the clock, according to Dayforce. That gives applicants flexibility over when they participate, rather than requiring every initial interview to fit a recruiter’s schedule.
The process begins with a job description. Dayforce says Ribbon can automatically generate interview questions and a scoring rubric—a set of criteria for assessing answers—from relevant past interviews. It then evaluates candidates using interview transcripts, with the stated aim of making assessments more structured and relevant to the job.
Dayforce also describes video and other integrity checks that can detect unusual audio, gaze and response-timing patterns. How those flags affect a candidate’s progress through screening was not explained.
Dayforce CEO David Ossip positions the acquisition around high-volume hiring and frontline organizations. His intended division of labor puts AI on manual, time-sensitive work while recruiters focus on engaging talent and making decisions.
High-volume hiring shouldn’t mean choosing between speed and a strong candidate experience.

Finding candidates before the interview
Ribbon also searches employers’ existing talent pools for qualified candidates, a capability described as talent rediscovery. Dayforce says that technology has been tested across as many as 30 million candidates within a single applicant tracking system—the software employers use to manage applications.
- Candidate outreach: Ribbon supports contacting candidates through SMS, WhatsApp and email.
- Interview scheduling: an AI scheduling agent is nearing completion, according to the announcement.
Ribbon brings an existing operation to the proposed deal: Dayforce says the company has hundreds of customers and has completed more than one million interviews.
